UNITED WE WIN
DIVIDED THEY RULE
The saying may be common to many of us as “united we
stand divided fall”, but I have twisted it a bit, I will tell you why.
Though we are different in terms of tribe, social
status, politically. We are very different in many things but there is one
distinct feature that we all share, ‘We are all Kenyans’.
Kenyans during a cultural festival in Malindi |
To me Kenya means a lot; Kenya is Peace, Kenya is Love,
Kenya is good leadership, Kenya is being concerned of my neighbour’s wellbeing.
Kenya is helping one another whether in trouble or happy moments.
Most of the time we Kenyans have let our differences
rule us, for instance in the 2007 – 2008 post-election violence, I was
dismayed. I hated being a Kenyan, what I saw was a series of killings,
bloodshed, burning buildings and farms. The person who was your neighbour a few
days ago turned to be the bitter enemy. We were divided tribally and
politically. I saw human beings turning to beasts to the extent of burning a
church where people were seeking refuge and praying for peace, the fear of God
had lost.
During the Post-election violence |
I will be proud and glad to leave in Kenya where love
is the order of the day, where our leaders both political and religious will be
in one accord and respect one another. A Kenya where all tribe live in love and
peace and care for each other as one great family. A Kenya where my neighbour
is my neighbour whether in happy times or in hard times.
The biggest enemy is ready to dispense hatred, jealous,
despair, fight, injustice, fear and terror to Kenyans.
We can and we will win over this enemy only if we put
God in the first place and take Him at His word, “Love
your neighbour as yourself” and “do unto others
as you would like them do to you”.
#KENYANS WE ARE ONE.
#KENYANS WE ARE ONE.
